Introducing Dustin Sterling Astran -Executive Director

Dustin Sterling Astran I have been working at THE Spinal Correction and Wellness Center since 2003. I graduated from the University of Maryland College Park (GO TERPS!) with a degree in Communications. My job is to make sure your visits at our offices go smoothly and you are taken care of properly. If ever a question arises, please ask and I will get you the answer. My future plans are to help our doctors and staff open, establish, and manage multiple offices in the DC metropolitan area so we can help as many people as possible benefit from our care. Plain and simple, It works!!

My interests include being a DJ and music producer. My first solo album as a recording artist drops in the spring of 2008. I enjoy working out, watching the ‘Skins and eating shrimp.

Introducing Renita Buckner – Insurance Billing

Renita Buckner I have been working at THE Spinal Correction & Wellness Center since 2003. I am in charge of insurance billing and verification. If you have questions in these areas, I am your woman. Please contact me because at times, the information can be confusing if you are not used to dealing with these companies and the terminology.

I am married to Branden and have 3 children, Trinity, Elexus and Branden Jr. I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, learning, meditating and days at the spa. I am continuing my education at Northern Virginia College where I currently reside. My future plans are to attend law school.

Anastasia Palmisano

Hi, I’m Anastasia Palmisano (say that 3 times fast). I am a massage therapist and a chiropractic assistant in training. I live in Silver Spring, Maryland and have 2 Staffordshire Terriers, Sadie and Sox. I like to eat Thai food, salsa dance and lounge on the beach in St. Croix, not necessarily at the same time.

Mike Turajczyk I am Mike Turajczyk aka "Polish Mike", I joined THE Spinal Correction and Wellness Center in 2006. I came from Poland after graduating University of Lodz with a Master's Degree in Spatial Economy. I analyze and head the public relations activities for various community outreach programs to improve spatial development of the practice and public awareness and perception. My positive attitude, sense of humor and care about our patients helps bring happiness and health to our environment.

Introducing Essa Hlontor - Reception

Essa Hlontor Hi, I’m Essa, I’m from Togo, which is in West Africa. I currently live in Germantown. I came to the United States when I was 9. I go to Montgomery College and am studying pediatric nursing. I went into this area and work at THE Spinal Correction & Wellness Center because I love to HELP people. I love to volunteer in nursing homes and hospital settings. I absolutely LOVE kids. I speak three languages fluently: English, French and Ewe (an African dialect) and also speak conversational Spanish.

Why is a "slipped disc" unlikely?
Separating each spinal vertebra is a disc. Its fibrous outer ring holds in a jelly-like material. Because of the way a disc attaches to the spinal bones above and below it, it can't actually "slip." However, a disc can bulge, tear, herniate, thin and collapse. But it can't slip.
What controls every cell, tissue and organ of your body?
DNA? Wrong. Immune system? Wrong? Hormones? Wrong. It's your nervous system, consisting of your brain, spinal cord and all the nerves of your body. When a chiropractor sees a Rockville patient with say, stomach problems, we want to know why the brain is unable to properly control and regulate the stomach. Which prompts us to examine the nervous system—the focus of chiropractic care.
